Vodnjan

Vodnjan

Vodnjan – a famous tourist destination in the southwest of Istria. On every corner, the city exudes history, every path hides a building, a church, a palace built in the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. The most interesting is the Gothic palace of the Bettica family, a popular castle built in 1300. The parish church of sv. Vlaho [St. Blaise] is attractive and has the tallest bell tower in Istria, and it is given its uniqueness by the mummified body of a saint and a collection of relics of the largest greatest value. It is a special pleasure to walk the narrow streets that wind irregularly between the houses, and on the cobble stones you can feel the spirit of the past. The church of sv. Jakov [St. James], sv. Katarina [St. Catherine], sv. Marije Traverse [St. Mary Traverse] and Gospa od Karmela [Our Lady of Mount Caramel] are beautiful buildings that testify to the arts and culture that are deeply rooted in this small town. And nature has been generous here. The valuable hands of the locals have raised majestic olive oil and you can taste wine, prosciutto and cheese in the Days of the young olive oil.
